JUVENELLE is a product I developed years ago when I was working in the Caribbean (Trinidad & Tobago). I noticed the need to change the texture and appearance of the skin I encountered in my practice, which was often discolored and dull due to the oxidative effects of the tropical climate.
I dedicated myself to bibliographic research and found a study conducted in Barcelona, Spain, in 2018 (J Drugs Dermatol 2018 Dec 1;17(12):1310-1315), which showcased the brightening and improvement of facial skin quality in healthy women with moderate hyperpigmentation and signs of aging. This fueled my imagination.
From a young age, particularly after becoming a mother, I struggled with facial spots, which led me to focus on treating facial hyperpigmentation. In any of my centers, the face has always been a primary focus, serving as the calling card of each individual.
Having experienced various treatments—from aggressive exfoliants like Trichloroacetic Acid to the famous BLUE PEEL, which resulted in deep and often traumatic exfoliations for the patient in pursuit of that desired porcelain skin—I realized that the most intense and aggressive methods were not always the best!
Inspired by the late Dr. Astrid Castro Castro (a Venezuelan cosmetologist) who advised me upon my arrival in Trinidad about different formulas, I decided to find existing acids on the market that would achieve the desired effect. My long-held desire was to improve hyperpigmentation and reduce the so-called rebound effect caused by Hydroquinone, which has been discontinued in many countries!
I communicated this idea informally to my sister @marianella_z, who was working in Export at that time in Trinidad. I expressed my interest in developing a formula based on years of knowledge and practice. She then dedicated herself to finding a reputable laboratory to create the formula we envisioned, leading us to the Asian continent in search of accessible production costs.
Once we found the laboratory, they sent us samples, and that’s when I began the clinical study in 2021, focusing on facial hyperpigmentation. However, I was surprised to see that the first improvement was in skin texture; there was no redness, and the hyperpigmentation was fading with a fine, nearly imperceptible peeling. By the end of the first month of the study, I knew what I had on my hands.
The cosmetic industry is vast, with well-established laboratories that utilize tranexamic acid, often in combination, but not with the formulation we proposed. So I decided to keep dreaming, enduring the passage of time and the financial challenges.
Once the serum was tested, we searched for a product name. To keep it within the family, we asked our niece @sfiasest to create the branding. Since it’s not a private label, the process took a bit longer.
I began the study in 2021, unaware that in September 2023, I would be moving to the USA. As God is great and generous, on December 21, 2023, we finally received FDA approval. Our first batch arrived in January 2024, so that you and the world can enjoy JUVENELLE and its benefits. In May of this year, we received our trademark.
Usage Instructions: We recommend cleansing your face with micellar water suitable for your skin type twice a day (AM/PM) and using sunscreen or foundation of your choice in the mornings after application.
